As we recorded the final episode of the year on the Brand You Podcast, I had one of those reflective moments. You know the ones, the kind where you look back and realise, wow a lot has shifted. Not just in the online space, but in how people feel about showing up, being seen, and building a personal brand that actually feels like them.

2025 wasn’t about louder content or chasing trends for the sake of it, it was about something deeper, something more honest.

So in this final episode of the year, Toby and I looked back at what really resonated with our audience, what surprised us most, and what it all tells us about where personal branding is heading next. The data has confirmed what we’ve been saying all along at Quirq…

Human first always wins!

And as we get more and more entangled with robots, when it comes to trust building online, it always will.

The Podcast Episodes That Defined 2025:

When we pulled the analytics for the year, I fully expected one of our more strategic, growth heavy episodes to come out on top. Spoiler: I was wrong (I’m used to that, happens a lot πŸ˜‚).

Our most popular episode of 2025 was Personal Branding for Introverts, and the response to that says everything about where the industry really is right now.

There are so many brilliant people out there who don’t want to shout, perform, or become a caricature of themselves online. They want to build a personal brand that feels calm, grounded, and authentic, without being told they need to β€œbe more confident” or β€œjust show up louder”.

That episode resonated because it gave people permission. Permission to stop trying to be the loudest voice in the room. Permission to build a personal brand that actually matches who they are in real life. And permission to trust that being thoughtful, measured, and quietly confident isn’t a disadvantage, it’s a strength, a powerful connector to others who are like them.

Toby made a brilliant point during the conversation that stuck with me: when you try to show up as someone you’re not, it creates a disconnect. People feel it. And when they eventually meet you, online or in person, the mismatch breaks trust.

Your personal brand isn’t about performance, it’s a reflection.

The second most popular episode, How to Grow an Army of Loyal Followers, challenged another long standing myth: that bigger numbers automatically mean bigger success.

We talked a lot about the obsession with follower counts, and why it’s becoming increasingly irrelevant. In 2025/26, reach is no longer reserved for accounts with massive audiences. Smaller creators can still reach thousands (or millions) if their message lands with the right people.

What matters now isn’t how many people follow you, it’s who follows you. Toby summed it up perfectly. If your audience isn’t aligned with what you offer, the numbers don’t mean much. Impact beats vanity metrics every time.

And then there was our third top episode: Is Your Personal Brand Future-Proof?

This one didn’t surprise me, because uncertainty has been the undercurrent of the entire year. AI, automation, constant platform changes… it’s a lot, and it’s going to get worse this year with the speed of technology moving faster than we can keep up. For many people, it’s overwhelming. But what we explored in that episode, and what I truly believe, is that we’re standing at the edge of something powerful.

Not so much something to fear, but something to harness and use wisely.

AI isn’t here to replace personal brands. It’s here to support them, if we let it handle the repetitive, draining tasks so we can spend more time doing the human stuff. The creative thinking. The connection. The storytelling. The nuance that no tool can replicate. That’s where the magic still lives.

So… What Does This Mean for 2026?

Looking ahead, three clear patterns are already forming. And if you’re building a personal brand in 2026, these are the shifts that matter:

First, we’re moving away from influencer culture and towards micro-authority. The days of posting for attention alone are fading. What platforms, and people, are rewarding now is value. Thoughtful insights. Lived experience. Real opinions. You don’t need to be famous, you need to be useful.

When you consistently share meaningful ideas in your space, you become known for something. And that’s where trust is built.

Second, personality-led content is about to matter more than ever. As AI-generated content becomes easier to spot, people are craving perspective. Your take. Your lived experience. Your voice. Generic advice is forgettable, personal insight is magnetic.

This doesn’t mean over-sharing or performing vulnerability (no ned to be putting the tears on for the camera, now thats cringe πŸ˜…). It means letting your opinions, humour, and humanity show through, even in professional spaces. Especially in professional spaces.

And finally, video is only going to grow. It already crept forward in 2025, but 2026 will be the year it properly takes centre stage, even on platforms like LinkedIn. Not because everyone suddenly loves being on camera (hardly anyone does!), but because video builds trust faster than almost anything else. People get to see you. Hear you. And feel your energy. It brings you to life.

And yes, introverts, I see you. There are tools, formats, and ways to show up on video without turning into someone you’re not. We’ll be diving deep into that next year, because confidence-led personal branding doesn’t mean forcing yourself into discomfort without support.

A Quiet Thank You (And a Big One)

Before we closed out the episode, I just wanted to say thank you. To everyone who’s listened, shared, messaged us, or stopped us in real life to say the podcast helped them, that means more than you know. This space exists because of you.

2026 is going to be about standing out without selling out, creating scroll-stopping content with al your quirks and all on show, and building personal brands that actually feel good to run.

Your message has power, let’s use it.
