The Power of Auditing Your Personal Brand

If you’ve been on LinkedIn lately, you’ve probably seen all the “engagement is down” posts doing the rounds. People think the algorithm’s changed again, they’re frustrated, and everyone’s back to wondering if it’s even worth posting anymore.

The thing is, it is worth it. But only if you understand what consistency actually means, I think lot’s of people get this word wrong. Consistency means consistent behaviour or treatment. It doesn’t mean doing the exact same thing again and again, even when it’s not working.

Consistency isn’t about showing up the same way, saying the same thing, or doing what’s always worked. It’s about staying rooted in your message while staying flexible in how you deliver it.

At Quirq, we’ve been walking that line ourselves recently. We’ve been taking stock, doing a deep dive into what’s working well for us and what isn’t. Because being consistent doesn’t mean never changing. It means showing up with intention, even when that means evolving.

We’re still showing up (no breaks here), but we’re also breathing and taking time to reflect, and testing new ideas. We’re keeping the heartbeat steady while shifting the rhythm if you like.

I’ve been inspired lately by other creators and industry experts who are trying new things. I’m not copying, but adapting and putting a Quirq spin on tweaks I can make that I think would work really well for us. You’ve got to test things, because the truth is, you’ll never know if something works until you give it an honest go.

The key is to try it. But then give it time to see how it performs (long enough). And then audit. That’s the cycle that keeps a personal brand alive.

It’s easy to fall into one of two traps:

  1. The over-committer who keeps pushing the same thing, even when the spark’s gone.
  2. The serial switcher who changes direction before anything has the chance to grow roots.

The sweet spot is somewhere in the middle.

As we near the end of the year, it’s the perfect time to pause and ask yourself:

  • What’s been working really well for me?
  • What’s been feeling flat or forced?
  • What could I try differently next?
  • How could I tweak something to improve it?

If you’ve been showing up consistently all year, that’s amazing, hats off to you. But consistency without reflection is like flogging a dead horse (not sure who came up with that phrase, I don’t like it, but I couldn’t think of a better one). The real growth happens when you zoom out, audit your efforts, and decide what deserves more energy, and what needs a refresh.

That’s exactly what we’re helping our clients with right now, end of year personal brand audits that highlight what’s landing, what’s lagging, and where to double down or switch things up.

Because building a standout personal brand isn’t about giving up and going MIA, and it’s definitely not burning everything down and starting again. It’s about staying consistent with what’s working, and being brave enough to evolve what’s not.

If you’d like a fresh set of eyes on your brand before the new year hits, we’d love to help. Let’s find what’s really working for you and build from there.

Book a personal brand audit with Quirq and step into the new year with clarity, confidence, and strategy that actually fits.
