Are you the invisible man/woman?

Without an online presence in 2024, you might as well be invisible. Which is fine, if you don’t want to attract any opportunities to your life. But all of us have things that we need, we need jobs, we need to pay the bills, we need friends and a supportive community around us, we need to feel like we’re a part of something, we need to develop and grow as humans, we need connection.

So when we say attract opportunities to you, all of us need certain opportunities to flourish in life:

If you’re looking for a new job and you’re not active on LinkedIn and your profiles not up to date, you’re missing out on job opportunities coming to you. Lot’s of businesses are on the platform looking for their next candidates for job roles. People are looking for people with your skills, your expertise, your values and your personality, but if you’re hiding by not showing up on social media, how will they find you?γ…€

Maybe you’re wanting a promotion at work. You’ve worked hard for a company for years now, and you think you deserve to earn the next promotion that comes up. But if you’ve not been advocating for your role and positioning yourself as an expert in your field through your social media channels while you’ve been working for your company, you probably won’t get that promotion you want. In fact, they might even give it to one of your colleagues because they have cultivated a thriving personal brand and have been attracting clients, business, collaborations to the company through their personal brands, while you’ve been hiding away.γ…€

If you’re wanting or needing to attract clients and customers to you, but you haven’t been putting yourself out there online explaining what you do, why you’re passionate about doing it and how you can help those clients or customers with what you have to offer, they won’t know they can come to you, or buy what you have. Also they’re not going to reach out to a blank profile, so even if you’re online, posting the odd holiday snap here and there with no profile photo, they won’t grow to know, like or trust you ao they still won’t become a well needed customer or client. γ…€

If you’re looking for investors for your business start up, they’re not going to believe in what you’re building if they don’t know you or what your investment opportunity is all about. Investors need to know a project exists, they need to know what it’s going to do, why it’s important and who you are and why you are so passionate about it. If you’re needing investments for any start ups then you need to be personal branding and sharing your story as well as your projects story, people can’t buy into something if they don’t know it exists.

When you want to raise your profile as an expert in your field, you know you have some value to share with the world and that you can help people through what you know. But when someone Googles you, nothing comes up, you are missing out on helping so many people. You need to be out there, online, sharing what it is you know, you need to be educating people and adding value to their lives, only then will you gain momentum up the Google rankings and start to be visible when people search for the thing you are an expert in.

If you’re wanting to land more speaking gigs so you get more awareness on your business or your offering, but you don’t have a following online and you don’t share video content showing how amazing you are at speaking, you won’t get the gig. People who hire speakers want to see evidence of you speaking, they want to see you with thriving social media channels showcasing your voice, your subject and they want to see your follower count. The follower count matters to them, because it demonstrates what you’re talking about is popular, its of value to people, but also they want to utilise your follower count to get noticed more. When you speak at their gig, they want you to share that on your social media platforms, gaining extra viewers and exposure for their event too. If you aren’t showing up online and growing an audience, but you want speaking gigs, we’re sorry, but it’s not going to happen. Grow your personal brand and then watch the speaking gigs come into you.γ…€

Creating a personal brand can even help these days if you’re wanting to attract a partner to your life. Too many people are sitting on the sofa, scrolling other people’s social media content, waiting for Prince/Princess Charming to come knocking at their door. The harsh reality is that they aren’t coming to you, you need to get out of the house and get involved in lots of hobbies to find a partner, or you need to get online and create and share a personal brand, showcasing who you are, so people can find you and ask you out on a date.

There are way too many people who scroll on social media watching everyone else’s highlight reels, wondering how they’re so successful and why they’re not, but they aren’t doing anything about it. They aren’t creating content, they aren’t putting themselves out there to attract opportunities, they aren’t growing, they’re the new invisible man/woman.

Building a presence online is so much more than sharing your family or holiday pictures these days. γ…€ You’re showing the world who you are, what you offer, how you can help people, why they should give their time up to invest in watching your content, why people should support you, hire you, work with you, date you.
