Cultivating a great personal brand is not for the faint hearted. Along the journey of creating a personal brand you’ll face challenges and obstacles just like everything else that’s worth growing and building.
This is where being bold, being brave and being you will come into play!
Be Bold:
Creating a personal brand is a bit like creating a character that you then bring to life. You mix your strengths, your uniqueness, your past experiences all together to form the person you’ll share with the world today. You are your personal brands main character. Main characters are bold!
Main characters aren’t shrinking violets, they show up, they take up space, they’re unapologetic, they know what they stand for, they inspire others, they lead the way. To do all of this you have to learn to be bold – You have to give up the people pleasing, you have to leave behind the effect that the opinions of others have on you, you need to be so fixated on who you are going to help that you block out all the other noise.
We’re all born bold, as kids we all showed up, we were all the main characters in our lives, but then along the way we put up barriers. Being bold requires you to start taking those barriers down and get back to some of our child like main character energy.
Be Brave:
In order to step into our main character energy, we’re going to need to get brave – Because we aren’t going to feel ready, or confident enough, or instantly not care what others think of us. We’re going to have to be brave, do the things, then the confidence will follow.
Bravery is the key here. Be brave and start showing up online, be brave and start sharing your opinions, be brave and start creating videos, be brave and take every speaking opportunity that comes your way.

Be You:
Your personal brands superpower is you being you! If you want to stand out online, then you need to be a bit different, use your uniqueness to shine online, don’t hide your uniqueness away.
Every single one of us is different to the next. Yes we have similarities, yes we have similar roles, yes we have similar likes and dislikes. But when you bunch all of the things that make us, us together, this makes up a completely different person to the next. When you share a different opinion online, when you dress slightly differently, when you word things a different way, but in your own unique way, this sets you apart from the rest.
Over time with consistency, people will start to recognise these differences as you. When you post a picture, it will be as unique as you are. When you write some content the uniqueness of you will show in it. When you speak on camera, people will recognise that voice (that you hate listening to, but no one else does!). Show up as you and you will attract the right people to your personal brand.
Going on a personal branding journey will push you to develop personally, you’ll grow as your brand grows. No one starts off being bold, you grow your boldness by getting brave and being unapologetically you.

Rebecca is a friend of mine, and I’ve watched her personal brand blossom and grow over recent years, I may be one of her biggest cheerleaders, which I think we need more of in this world. In a world where others can tear each other down online when they see them rise, I think we should actually all be kinder and support each other more.
Luckily I’ve got a lot of supportive friends like Rebecca out there (Carrie who can also be seen in the featured image, and many more) and that’s why I feel like I can be bold, braver and be me online.
